A breastfeeding Missouri mother has been charged with contempt of court after refusing to leave her son behind for jury duty.
"I've never even had a speeding ticket, so I have zero experience with legal issues," Laura Trickle said.
Trickle said she needs to nurse her seven-month-old son. She brought him along when she appeared for jury selection, hoping the judge would grant an exemption.
Instead, Trickle said she was told "I would be able to pump on breaks, unfortunately Axel doesn't take a bottle with me all day and then be able to nurse on breaks. But since I'm a stay at home mom we don't have childcare."
Trickle is facing a fine of up to $500.
