Hartley Nature Center held its sixth annual Howl-O-Ween event Saturday.
The event is a partnership between Hartley and the UMD Eearly Childhood Studies program. Students from the program help plan activities for kids ages 3 through 8, and then play a very active part in the entertainment.
"We have some of our students from one of our Early Childhood Foundations classes that are dressed up as costumed critters on the trails," said Jenny Bouchie, an instructor from the program. "They have some facts that are age appropriate for the population that we have attending the Howl-O-Ween event today, and the kids have an opportunity to come up to someone and learn a few facts about an animal that lives in northern Minnesota."
Bouchie said more than 300 people attended the event this year.
