Supporters and opponents of the PolyMet Mining project will have to wait two weeks longer for the publication of the Supplemental Draft Environmental Impact Statement.

The reason, according to co-lead agency the Minnesota DNR, is the recent government shutdown. The U.S. Forest Service, which is another co-lead, could not work on the critical final review of the 1800 page document during the shutdown. The third co-lead agency, the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, was able to keep working on it.

Previously the date was going to be Friday, November 22nd. Now it is going to be December 6th.

The document will provide the public with the most up-to-date information and environmental analysis of the proposal.

Company leaders said they are taking this short delay in stride.

PolyMet is the base and precious metals project planned for Hoyt Lakes and Babbitt.
