Carlton, Minn. - For the third time, Carlton's volleyball team is in the State Tournament.

On Wednesday, the Bulldogs were treated to a pep rally at the school before leaving for St. Paul. Carlton (26-5) won the Section 7A Championship and they return to State for the first time since 2004.

A tough test awaits the Bulldogs and that will be the Section 3A Champions from Minneota. The Vikings (29-3) are making their fifth consecutive and tenth overall State appearance. Minneota was also the top ranked team in Class A in the final coaches' poll of the regular season.

"We are not going to worry about what they (Minneota) are doing, we are going to go down there and play our game and try and stay on offense and try and dig whatever they hit at us and not give them any free balls," says Head Coach Barb Soukkala.

"We worked hard all year for this, even during the offseason and we knew we could do it, we have the skills for it and we just had to work hard throughout the whole season," says sophomore Macy Belich.

"Just everything has to go our way, we have to work hard all of the time and we have to have the confidence and know we can win," says junior Jessica Stanslaski.

The Bulldogs and Vikings are scheduled to battle at 3:00 pm on Thursday in State A Quarterfinals at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
