Students and staff at Keewatin Elementary went from being low performers, to the highest in the state. That's according to the rating system that measures how schools are doing.
To celebrate their tremendous success, there was an all-school assembly on Friday. The gym turned into a sea of orange, since everyone was wearing orange shirts that said, "Reward School."
Principal Peter Hardy lead the assembly. He praised the students for working hard, the staff for encouraging them to learn, and the parents and community for supporting the school.
One mother we spoke to, Sarah Hendricks, said she's so proud of her son who's made amazing strides since last year, and the other students who did the same thing. "I videotaped today. It's so we can have the good memories!"
Local and state leaders attended. And Senator Amy Klobuchar even appeared via a video she made for the school.
Students got to dance around to music by Katy Perry at the end. And they learned they got another grant for their new playground, which will be installed next week.
