Duluth, Minn. - The rifle deer season opens this weekend in Minnesota and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources expects the season to be similar to last year, which included almost 500,000 hunters harvesting approximately 186,000 deer.
As for as when a hunter may have their best chance to get a deer, it depends. Bob Kuettel of the United Northern Sportsmen Conservation Club says it might just be the early birds who get the worms.
"Just have to get out in the woods early, deer move a lot before sunrise so early in the morning is going to be good. They start moving again late in the afternoon, getting close to sundown and they do feed at night so that is when you're going to have your best luck," says Kuettel.
