Two people were injured after striking a deer in Carlton County around 10:45 Wednesday morning.

The Minnesota State Patrol says that 46-year-old Alison Price-Newman of Burnsville and 20-year-old Muhammad Bajwa were travelling northbound on Interstate 35 when they struck a deer, it came through the windshield, and injured both occupants.

Bajwa was seriously injured and taken to Essentia Health-St. Mary's in Duluth. The Minnesota State Patrol's website says it is unknown where Bajwa is from.

Price-Newman suffered non-life threatening injuries.
