Elise, a volunteer youth organizer with OutFront Minnesota, and Frank, the President of the local teachers union, stopped by Good Morning Northland on Monday to talk about bullying in schools.
OutFront Minnesota, along with Education Minnesota, among others, have formed the Minnesota Safe Schools for All Coalition. They are working together to update Minnesota's bullying prevention law, which they say is among the weakest in the country.
The law they are rallying to support is called the Safe & Supportive Minnesota Schools Act. The coalition says that students do better when they are in school and learning, rather than feeling threatened, or missing school because of bullying.
Elise, along with others, has helped to organize a rally on Monday, December 9th in support of this legislation. The rally will be held at 4:00 PM at Myers-Wilkins Elementary School Gymnasium.
