Wolf Hunt Ending in Another Minnesota Zone

The wolf hunting and trapping season is ending in another part of Minnesota Friday night.

The Minnesota DNR says the season will end in the northwest zone, which includes western St. Louis, Koochiching, Itasca, and other counties to the west.  The DNR says hunters and trappers had harvested 93 wolves in the zone as of midday Friday, four wolves over the quota.

Minnesota hunters have taken 223 wolves so far this year.  Hunting has already closed in the northeast zone and will continue until Jan. 31 in the east-central zone, which includes Pine County, unless the quota of ten wolves is reached before then.

The wolf hunt also continues in Michigan's Upper Peninsula through Dec. 31 but has ended in all Wisconsin zones for the season.
