Duluth, Minn. - Duluth East senior Phil Beaulieu has made a verbal commitment to play at Division I Nebraska-Omaha. The forward/defenseman has seven goals and nine assists for the Greyhounds this season.
Beaulieu announced his decision on Twitter over the weekend, writing: "Very excited to announce that I have commited to play college hockey at the University of Nebraska-Omaha!!" Beaulieu will get to play with former Greyhound Jake Randolph and Grand Rapids star Avery Peterson as Mavericks.
Waterloo holds his USHL rights and he plans to play after the prep season ends.
"It was kind of nice, it was a lot of motivation to try and get that college scholarship and keep working hard everyday, but it is just really nice to get it off and out of the way, just to be able to say that I am committed to college, especially at a Division I college, it is a great feeling, but I just want to make sure that I keep working hard everyday," says Beaulieu.
