Time to apply for the vacant Duluth City Council seat ran out Friday afternoon.

Filing closed at 4:30 p.m. According to the city's website there are ten candidates:

The council will appoint a candidate to fill the Second District seat held by Patrick Boyle until he was elected to the St. Louis County Board.

Boyle is replacing Miller on the board where she filled in after her husband, Commissioner Steve O'Neil, served until he passed away from a fight with cancer.

The City of Duluth has nine councilors. Five council districts elect their own councilors, and four at large councilors represent the entire city.
