Chisholm, Minn. - On a day recognized in Minnesota as 'Bob McDonald Day,' the Chisholm boys basketball team defeated their rivals from Hibbing 79-69 in triple overtime in Chisholm.
Governor Mark Dayton proclaimed the day in McDonald's honor. He will retire soon after 59 seasons coaching. McDonald is Minnesota's wins leader in boys basketball and has won over 1,000 games and three State Titles in his career.
Former Chisholm player and IRRRB Commissioner Tony Sertich presented McDonald with a proclamation on behalf of the Governor before the game.
Hibbing is coached by McDonald's son Joel.
