"Heart disease is America's number one killer," Berta Lippert tells us. Berta is a speaker, trainer, and life coach from Duluth.
She joined us with a great salad recipe, and a great book from the Mayo Clinic on heart health to help us all out!
Berta tells us that the Mayo Clinic's "Health Heart for Life!" book lays out a great plan to help heart health. Part of that plan is called 'Eat 5, Move 10, Sleep 8'. What that means is, eating 5 servings of fruits & vegetables a day, moving 10 extra minutes a day, and sleeping your full 8 hours a night. Berta says that, "moving just 10 extra minutes a day can cut your risk of heart attack in half." Berta also brought a recipe for us to help us get those 5 servings a day! She made a wonderful, healthy Southwester Salad with Black Beans. The salad tastes great, and you can find the recipe at heart.org.
