Authorities say they've arrested an inmate that walked away from a correctional facility in Willow River.
The Minnesota Department of Corrections says offender Richard James O'Reilly was apprehended by the Pine County Sheriff's Office, the Department of Corrections Fugitive Unit, and the Minnesota State Patrol in Sturgeon Lake, after he walked away from the Challenge Incarceration Program at 8:30 Tuesday night.
Pine County authorities said 51-year-old O'Reilly was located at a residence owned by an acquaintance before 12 p.m. Wednesday. They said they set up a perimeter and contacted the homeowner, who then convinced O'Reilly to come out of the house. He was arrested peacefully, according to the Department of Corrections.
O'Reilly is in custody at the Pine County Jail, awaiting transfer back to the Department of Corrections, Pine County authorities said.
There are about 180 inmates at the Willow River facility, which is for non-violent offenders. The Department of Corrections said O'Reilly was incarcerated for counterfeiting/fraud.
