GREEN BAY, Wis. - Superior's run towards a State Division 1 Championship ended just short as the Spartans fell to Oak Creek 73-52.
It was the first time that Superior had reached the State Finals in girls' basketball.
Seniors Jessica Lindstrom and Hailey Kontny had 23 points and 16 points respectively. Lindstrom will play at Division I Wisconsin-Green Bay next season while Kontny will play at Division II UMD.
"It is tough to lose a game like that, but at the same time, my girls really rattled and played extremely hard and we had our chances and we really chipped into their lead and got the momentum at the beginning of the second quarter, but Oak Creek hit some big shots, a lot of three-pointers and hats off to them, they are a very good team," said Superior Head Coach Phil Roe. "At the same time, I am very proud of my girls and the leaders that they are on and off the court"
