The Duluth and Cloquet public libraries are hosting their "One Book, One Community" event this Spring, through the end of April. The manager of the Duluth Public Library, Carla Powers, stopped by to tell us about one special event concerning the book "The Cellist of Sarajevo".
Carla tells us that the purpose of this event is to "promote reading, and to really spark a community conversation around one common book...talking about it with their friends and neighbors."
"The Cellist of Sarajevo", written by Steven Galloway, takes place during the siege of Sarajevo, which happened during the Bosnian war in the mid-1990's. "It was inspired by a real person who played his cello in the rubble of abandoned buildings during the siege as a form of resistance."
This book sounds amazing, and if you'd like to meet the author and hear from him, you can head to the Cloquet Public Library on Tuesday, April 15th at Noon.
