You've got a big opportunity this weekend to help feed hungry people.
Letter carriers started getting the word out about this year's Stamp Out Hunger food drive with an announcement in Superior Tuesday morning. On Saturday, they want you to fill one or more bags with non-perishable, non-expired food and put them by your mailbox. That means you'll want to start buying, or gathering that food now.
Lynette Erickson, the Superior Post Office food drive coordinator, said "this is an important time of year to collect food so if you can just put a couple more things in each bag and fill those bags up, hopefully we can feed all the hungry people through the summer."
Suggested foods include chicken noodle or cream soups, peanut butter, canned fruit or canned meat and beans. Make sure to have the filled bags by your mailbox by 9 a.m. Saturday.
