The U.S. Coast Guard rescued three kayakers who were stranded on Lake Superior near Grand Portage, Minn., on Sunday afternoon.
According to a Coast Guard press release, two men and one woman were kayaking from Grand Portage to Lucille Island. They became overwhelmed by wind and called for help on an emergency radio channel just before 3:30 p.m.
The Coast Guard drove a 25-foot response boat from Grand Marais to Grand Portage and launched it from there. The response boat reached the kayakers at around 5 p.m.
The kayakers were wearing life jackets and reported no medical concerns. Their names and hometowns of the kayakers were not released.
