Two of the world's fastest Subway sandwich artists are dishing up orders right here in the Northland.
Hermantown's Cassandra Kryola and Duluth's Shelly Matson competed against 100 sandwich artists in the Sub Jammers Competition in San Diego. It's a race to make the fastest sub where competitors are judged on speed, sandwich appearance, topping distribution and formula accuracy.
Kryola took first place while Matson took third. The two have been working Subways sandwich lines for a combined 28 years.
Kryola won $3,000 for first place and Matson took home $1,000 for third.
