For Pittsford Mendon senior Christina Fluman, school comes easy. Her 94 average is the result of years of being a good overall student. She tries to push herself.
Christina Fluman, Pittsford Mendon Scholar Athlete, said, “AP Biology. We just started, but I really like it, it’s a lot of stuff to learn, but I’m interested in biology and I’m doing calculus also, not my favorite, but its good math.”
Christina hopes to put her hard work to good use. She wants to become a doctor for one simple reason.
Fluman said, “I want to help people. I can’t think of anything I’d rather do, anything more interesting than that.”
Soccer is also a passion.
Fluman said, “I’ve been playing since I was 5. I kept playing and getting better. I haven't stopped I've always loved it. I’ve never looked at other sports the way I looked at soccer.”
Christina is a four year varsity starter, captain for the past two years. She qualified for Section V All-Star Teams that traveled to Spain and Italy. Her skills in the classroom and on the field have earned her full ride to St. Bonaventure.
Fluman said, “It feels amazing. It makes the college process easier.”
Winning a sectional title and going to states is now on Christina’s mind. She is choosing to savor every moment of this season.
Fluman said, “Next year I get to go to college and start a new life but I'm sad it is ending. This is what I've looked forward to in high school. Once it's over it will be unreal.”
