Three hundred days and counting until the 2013 PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club, when the best golfers in the world return to Rochester.
Oak Hill and the PGA are helping to give fans a better first impression of Oak Hill. There is a new bus loop is under construction. Instead of shuttle buses dropping fans off in busy parking lots, fans will see the practice range that leads to the storied club house.
Club officials are hosting a "Taste of the 95th PGA Championship" event. Local and national sponsors are invited to tour the corporate hospitality tents that have been built as replicas of what will be on the course next summer. They hold 50 to 100 people. Sponsors can visit the course this week and review menu and concession items.
There is also the "Golf Balls on Parade" in the coming months, similar to the Horses on Parade event from a few years ago. Sponsors can purchase and decorate these golf balls that will be displayed all over the area. This is all an effort to keep the community and sponsors excited about the event which begins next August.
Ryan Cannon, Director, PGA Championship, said, “We will have thirty of these structures all over the course but beyond that well build 300 thousand square feet of temporary space. Well have a media center, a gold shop, and all types of grand stands. We will have all kids of spectator amenities for them to interact with beyond the competition inside the ropes so all that begins next year.”
Ticket sales, which started in August, continue to be strong. Clubhouse tickets are almost sold out. For more information about ticket packages, click here.
