Tragedy on a farm in Chili Friday. Sheriff's Deputies say a 53-year-old man is dead after a combine fell on top of him.
Officers say by the time they arrived on scene, it was already too late. Emergency crews were called to Scottsville Road in Chili early Friday afternoon.
A large extended family runs this farm and farms all over the west and southwest part of the county.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says Michael Krenzer was killed while doing some routine maintenance. Michael took over the farm from his father who started the family business.
He was apparently doing some routine maintenance on cater combine head. The head was detached from the combine and raised up by a fork lift and while Krenzer was working underneath it, it slipped and fell on top of him.
Combine heads are quite heavy. They weigh between 1500 to 2,000 pounds.
