On Monday, October 15, RG&E will move a 186-ton phase-shifting transformer from a location on Main Street in Macedon to substation 124 off of Harris Road in Penfield.
This transformer is identical to the one moved last month. It was moved from a location near Culver Road and Atlantic Avenue to substation 42 off Blossom Road in Rochester.
The departure is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. and proceed to Penfield with a police escort. Traveling between 6 mph and 12 mph, it is expected that it will take all day to make the 12-mile road journey to the substation.
The company says this is part of a major upgrade at the substation that will help RG&E maintain the reliability of the electric delivery system.
