A couple of tight western New York congressional races are hoping for a boost from Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Friday morning, the governor came to Rochester to endorse fellow democrats Congresswomen Louise Slaughter and Kathy Hochul.

About one hundred 50 people packed into Local 13 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union hall to hear from the governor and the candidates.

Both Slaughter and Hochul are facing serious challenges from republicans Maggie Brooks and Chris Collins.

Cuomo says Slaughter and Hochul are needed back in Congress to get bills passed and end gridlock. “Working together to get things done for the people for their district, for the people of the state, for the people of the country, reaching across the aisle to get things done."

This is apparently the first of several campaign trips the governor will make. He is going to campaign for Congressman Tim Bishop later Friday. Cuomo is on stand by to campaign for President Obama in some of the swing states.
