Like it or not, the cold weather is on its way. Thursday, Unity Health System's "Healthy Start Program" held a coat and boot drive to help mothers get their kids ready for winter.
Unity collected winter gear for children of all ages, including coats, boots, hats and gloves.
The Healthy Start Program helps to provide resources to underserved woman and mothers in the Rochester area.
Program coordinator Melisa Vasquez says drives like this are important to help Healthy Start serve Rochester.
"There's a huge need for winter clothes especially right now kicking off the season, the weather is getting colder out and the women in the program have children that are between the ages of 0 to 2 years and some of the moms have older children. So we are taking winter clothing, especially for younger children," Vasquez says.
