Scholars honored at "Salute to Excellence Gala"

Two local scholars were honored at an annual event on Saturday night.

Doctor David Anderson-Sankofa and Joan Coles Howard were recognized Saturday at the Rochester Black Journalists Association "Salute to Excellence Gala." It was held at the Perkins Mansion on East Avenue.

Anderson is a founding member of the Blackstorytelling League of Rochester and Howard served as publisher for the "Frederick Douglass Voice" for man many years after her father, Howard Coles, retired.

The event was emceed by News10NBC's very own Janet Lomax.
