The race for the 55th State Senate seat between democrat Ted O’Brien and republican Sean Hanna has been in the spotlight because of the recent attack ads.
News10NBC caught up with both O’Brien and Hanna who both say it’s been a long campaign but there is still a lot of work to do right up until the last minute.
O’Brien said, “There’s no question that it was a long difficult campaign but the fact of the matter is we've arrived here today and people are really coming out to the polls celebrating democracy and their right to vote, so that's the important thing at the end of the day.”
Hanna said, “We have a lot of people, a lot of volunteers who have dedicated countless hours to the campaign that are still working tirelessly right up to the final vote to make sure all our voters come out because ultimately that's what this is going to come down to is voter turnout."
The 55th State Senate race is the race for the seat vacated by Jim Alesi.
