Livingston County has been the center of a tight district attorney race and Tuesday night, Greg McCaffrey won the election with 45-percent of the votes.
McCaffrey said that he is breathing a lot easier than he has in weeks. The democrat beat a republican and a conservative in a county that has 17,000 registered republicans and 10,000 registered democrats.
McCaffrey, who has worked as an assistant district attorney in Monroe County, says this is evidence of what can happen when people get behind a candidate. “It's a good thing to win by a large margin, it's the only way to win. It truly shows that Livingston County has gone more ‘let's pick a person, not a party’.”
McCaffrey is said to be the first democrat to be elected to this office since 1872.
