Father's Heart Ministry is a mobile soup kitchen in Rochester, but on Sunday they returned from spending a number of days providing relief for hurricane victims downstate.
The group of eight people told News10NBC they fed more than 1,600 people and handed out over 500 blankets while they were down there. The ministry's director, Russ Loria, says the destruction caused by the hurricane was devastating and affected people of all walks of life.
"We were in the Coney Island area," says Loria. "Where there was complete devastation, just whole neighborhoods wiped out, houses washed away."
Loria says the people downstate were very thankful for what his group was able to provide.
