nullVeterans Day-- a day to honor the men and women who have served our country.

Besides school closings, all government offices and Rochester city branch libraries are closed.

City garbage and recycling collections will stay on schedule this week.

On Monday, there are several events including a memorial ceremony held by the Battle of the Bulge Veterans inside the Port of Rochester building in Charlotte at 11 a.m.

Two colleges are also hosting events. Nazareth College is holding a special event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Otto A. Shults Community Center Forum, located on campus. The event will feature presentations of awards and the opportunity for the community to share stories.

Genesee Community College will be honoring veterans with a number of events on the Batavia campus and Medina Campus Center, beginning at 9 a.m. Events include a free concert by the United States Air Force Bay Winds Quartet.

If you want to get some exercise on Monday, you can participate in the Stars and Stripes 5-K Run at Mendon Ponds Park. It begins at 11 a.m. at the Stewart Lodge. Proceeds from the race are given to Honor Flight to send WWII Veterans to Washington, DC. to see their memorial.
