A Rochester woman accused of stabbing and killing her boyfriend is expected to be in court Tuesday.

Tanisha Davis faces second degree murder charges in connection with the death of Montreall Wright. Police say Wright was found stabbed in a home on Sawyer Street early Sunday morning. Investigators say he died at the hospital.

Davis, 26, is in jail charged with murder. But her family and friends say this is not the whole story. They say that sometimes she and Wright had a great relationship and sometimes it was extremely violent.

Penny White said, “Do you know what happened? Was there a camera there? Honestly, no one knows what happened, but the two people who were there.”

Penny White says no one should jump to conclusions just because Tanisha Davis was charged with murder. She says she has known Davis and the victim, Montreall Wright,  for a long time and she believes whatever went down was self defense.

White said, "I think she did it out of protection for herself and her home."
Of course, that is not how Wright's family sees it.

Charles Wright, Wright's uncle, said, "God said, eye for eye. He'll take care of it."

First responders found Wright inside a home on Sawyer Street stabbed in the torso early Sunday morning. A few minutes later, he was pronounced dead at Strong Hospital.

Shal-lequa Wright, Wright's sister, said,"I'm still in shock. I mean to me it's like I'm still dreaming that he's going to walk through the door and tell us he's fine, that he got through it. Still waiting for him to come thru the door and tell us he's okay."

Sadly, that is not going to happen and now both families are left with broken hearts and a lot of questions.

OJ Wright, Wright's cousin, said,"It just hit home. It's the first death in our family, period, and he was 35. I'm 36 and we were close."

When News10NBC spoke with Penny White, Davis's father was there. Also one of her brothers. Off-camera they talked about a hostory of domestic violence. Rochester Police say officers have responded in the past for domestic calls involving the victim and the suspect.

Wright was the father of four children.
