Police officers in Monroe County teamed up to give a $13,000 donation to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester.

Members of the county's Police Benevolent Association presented the check Monday night. This is part of a joint fundraising effort between town police unions and the Rochester Police Locust Club.

Carol Demoulin, the Executive Director of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester, says the money will go toward an expansion project to allow more families to stay in a time of need.

Carol Demoulin, Ronald McDonald House Charities, said, "We have over 200 nights a year. Last year, we were full. We wouldn't have been able to have another family come stay with us that's a terrible thought when you're a family with an ill or injured child and you're out of town."

Demoulin says Officer Brad Steve from the Brighton Police Department came up with the idea.
In addition to the donation, police officers also provided dinner for families staying at the home Monday night.
