A Rochester man who was seriously hurt after being hit by a car Monday has died.
Rochester Police say 62-year-old Artis Simpson, of Rochester, died from his injuries Tuesday.
Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Joseph Avenue and Kelly Street around 3:20pm Monday.
Witnesses told police that Simpson was standing at the side of the van either loading or unloading something when the accident happened. Police say a 2006 Toyota Camry was traveling south on Joseph Avenue when it hit the back of the minivan sending the Simpson flying into the road. He was taken to the hospital in very serious condition. He died from his injuries Tuesday.
The Camry then crossed the road, jumped the curb and stopped in the grass across the street from the accident. The impact was also so hard that police say it sent the minivan into the back of a parked church van in front of it.
The driver of the Camry is a 60-year-old Rochester woman. She was taken to the hospital with complaining of pain. The female passenger was also taken to the hospital as a precaution.
Police have not issued any tickets at this time. They are still investigating.
