Unity Health has launched a new, web-based portal that will allow more than 165,000 patients to make appointments, ask medical questions and access medical documents.
My Unity offers patients four, new online capabilities:
- Appointments-Patients can request non-urgent appointments, and all requests sent before 2 p.m. are answered the same day. Requests sent after 2 p.m. on weekdays or any time on weekends are answered the next business day.
- Medical questions-To ask non-urgent medical questions, patients simply log in to My Unity and use it in the same way they would an email program. When an answer is delivered, patients get a conventional email directing them to log in again to get the response from their provider. In many cases, Unity nurses are able to answer patient questions over My Unity, giving patients faster answers to questions about a wide range of health and medical issues.
- Practice documents-Through My Unity, patients can request office visit summaries, immunization records, office forms such as physical exam requests, and laboratory test-result records. Responses normally take two days to deliver.
- Research center-The online research center includes a symptom checker and health-decision
tools, along with helpful information on medical conditions, medications, medical tests and more.
Unity Health says in the near future patients will be able to send prescription refill requests online.
