Students, teachers and faculty members in the Churchville-Chili school district welcomed the state education commissioner to one of their schools.

Commissioner John King stopped by the Fairbanks Road Elementary School Tuesday morning. King is visiting with area schools to get a first-hand look at what districts are doing to meet the state's education goals.

He talked to us about the importance of meeting those goals, to ensure a better future for the kids and for our area as well. “We know that if we have students who are better prepared in mathematics in this region for example, there will be a better opportunity for them to pursue careers that will lead to economic growth for the region and state."

King observed two lessons in second and third grade classes during his visit.
