Alex Morgan named U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year

Team USA star forward Alex Morgan has been named Female Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Soccer Federation.
Morgan earned the honor from votes that were tallied equally from Facebook, U.S. soccer representatives and national media.
The 23 year old soccer phenom leads Team USA this year with 28 goals and 19 assists. She scored a critical goal in the semi-finals of the Olympics to help Team USA to the gold medal at the London Olympics.
Morgan says that the 2015 World Cup is always in the front of her mind.

Pittsford native Abby Wambach was Female Athlete of the Year in 2011.
