Was it self-defense? That is the question a jury will be faced with Thursday in the case of a Brighton man, accused of killing his former roommate.

Closing arguments began late morning in the trial of 23-year-old Maxwell Wyant. He is accused in the shooting death of his former roommate.

Investigators believe the shooting was the result of a dispute over property at a home on Hartfeld Drive in Brighton.

The trial faced a delay last week after there was an issue with an alternate juror. That juror was dismissed from the case after two days of questioning. There was concern that one of the jurors shared a social media message about the trial with the entire jury.

Berkeley Brean is in court for closing arguments and will have updates on the trial tonight on News10NBC at 5 and 6.
