The third annual Service of Remembrance was held at Baber AME Church of Rochester on Meigs Street Thursday evening.
Family and friends of more than 30 homicide victims were there. Organizers say they want to provide a safe place where people can grieve.
"One can never get over the lost of a loved one that's impossible," says Pastor J.C. Simmons. "There is a manner and way that we go through--day by day--where we strengthen. We learn to take the rage and emotion and transform them into healthy memories."
The memorial service was organized by "Rise Up Rochester", which is an agency that provides support to crime victims and their families.
