Many families in the Rochester area went home Tuesday morning with generous gifts.
Today, the Rochester Family Mission handed out more than 700 baskets filled with food and 1,000 toys. The event took place at the old ice arena on Favor Street.
Families signed up for the baskets back in October and made toy requests for their children.
People from Foodlink, local churches and volunteers all helped make the event possible for families in need.
Rochester Family Mission Executive Director Barbara Thomas said, "Well there's a lot going on. There's a lot of poverty in the community, as well as in the city and the suburb. There's a lot of people who've lost their job, and just in great need of help, and we're here to give a helping hand.”
This group of volunteers also gave out baskets and turkeys for Thanksgiving.
