A local soldier, badly burned in Afghanistan, will be coming home but it won't be Friday as scheduled.
Cody Coopenberg, 21 of Holley, was supposed to return Friday afternoon but family members told News10NBC Friday morning that there was an issue with his flight. They say he should be able to come home Saturday.
Coopenburg has spent several months recovering at an Army hospital in Texas. He was burned over 60-percent of his body when a generator he was re-fueling exploded in July.
News10NBC has been checking on his condition and talking with his family ever since he was transferred to an army hospital in San Antonio.
Coopenberg is a volunteer firefighter and father. He has a two-year-old son so this will still be a very special Christmas for the whole family.
