With just a few days left until Christmas shoppers are decking the malls with bags full of gifts.
If you were out at the mall or any other shopping plaza on Sunday, you may have come across a number of people scrambling to buy those last minute gifts.
Deals were a-plenty for those willing to brave the crowds.
News10NBC spoke to some last minute shoppers. They are checking their lists as the clock ticks closer and closer to Christmas. Around this time of year, they are everywhere.
"There's always last minute shoppers," said shopper Patti Ferretti.
Thousands of shoppers flocked to local malls, but it wasn't just malls packed to the rim with procrastinators.
"We have been busy since the moment we opened the doors. We had people out in the parking lot at 9:30 this morning and it's been zooming along ever since," said Daniel Mejak, Parkleigh Operations Manager.
Parkleigh is a popular store on Park Avenue, and on Sunday it was full of last minute shoppers. Managers say it's their busiest day of the year.
Some shoppers say they prefer a more intimate setting, filled with interesting finds.
"When I want something unique and special I find it at Parkleigh," said Jennifer Shanley.
Shanley says she isn't shopping at the big box stores this year. She says it's all about shopping local.
Sunday's big crowds didn't surprise employees at Parkleigh. They had been anticipating this last minute pop.
Even though last minute shopping can be a little hectic for some, this year everyone seems to be in the Christmas spirit.
"This year's procrastinators are in really good moods. Everybody is smiling and laughing and they are walking around with baskets full of items. So they are still finding things, which is great," said Mejak.
There is still time to get out there and get some last minute items. Several stores throughout the area have extended their hours before the big day.
