Batavia man killed after crash in Town of Alexander

Sheriff's deputies in Genesee County say snowy conditions led to a crash that killed a Batavia man on Saturday.

The crash happened on Route 20 in the Town of Alexander just after 1:30 Saturday afternoon.

Investigators say Frank Demarco of Batavia, 48, was driving east when he lost control on the snow-covered highway and crossed into the path of an oncoming tractor trailer.

Demarco's passenger, 32-year-old Brandon Eck of Rochester, was taken to Strong Memorial with a serious leg injury.

The driver of the tractor trailer was taken to a Batavia hospital for evaluation.

Investigators say Demarco was not wearing a seatbelt and say speed may have been a factor.
