During the last two week of December, State Police in New York issued more than 33,000 tickets and arrested 538 people for DWI.
The National Impaired Driver Campaign began on December 14, 2012 and ended Tuesday, January 1, 2013. Troopers say during that period, more than 10,000 drivers were ticketed for speed, not wearing seatbelts or properly restraining children in vehicles.
Locally, State Police say they issued a total of 6,307 speeding tickets and arrested 107 for DWI.
