Dozens of local soldiers are spending their first night at home in a while.

Family and friends welcomed them home to Rochester Tuesday afternoon at the New York State Armory near the Rochester Airport.

About 65 soldiers arrived from Camp Shelby in Mississippi following their deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

The returning soldiers are part of the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat team.

News10NBC learned of many touching stories on Tuesday, including one soldier who proposed to his girlfriend just moments after returning.
