After a one-year hiatus, Fairport's pond hockey tournament will return this year.
The popular event will be held on the frozen Erie Canal starting with a youth tournament February 9-10 followed by an adult tournament February 15-17.
Last year, lack of ice forced cancellation of the tournament. Long-range weather forecasts hold promise for sub-freezing temperatures needed to ensure good ice on the canal.
If weather does not cooperate, organizers will transform the event to a street hockey tournament to be held on the multi-use courts at Fellows Road Park in Perinton.
Teams may register online only at www.fairporthockey.com.
The event is co-produced by the Fairport-Perinton Merchants Association and Fairport Partnership for a Better Community in cooperation with the Village of Fairport and the Town of Perinton.
All proceeds support the projects and programs of the FPMA and FPBC.
