Gates Police say an undercover sergeant was threatened with a knife during an undercover operation.

Just after 10:40 a.m. Friday, a Gates Police sergeant acting in an undercover manner responded to an ad on Backpage.com for “escort services”. The sergeant spoke with a woman and arranged to meet him at a Gates area motel.  Police say that woman was 33-year-old Kristi Simonson of Rochester.

Police say Simonson did accept $80 from the sergeant in exchange for sexual activity. Police say she then went into the bathroom where she locked the door. Police say that's when 21-year-old Charod P. White, of Rochester, came into the room, ordered the sergeant out of the room and threatened him with his fist. When the officer requested a refund, police say White displayed and threatened him with a knife. Officers waiting outside then took White and Simonson into custody.

White and Simonson are charged with robbery and petit larceny. White is also facing criminal possession of weapon charges and Simonson is facing prostitution charges.

Both were arraigned in Gates Town Court and sent to the Monroe County Jail.
