After months of hard work and gracious donations on Saturday we got just a glimpse of how well the Pirate Toy Fund did this year.

At Pirate Toy Fund headquarters in Rochester Saturday volunteers sorted through thousands of toys. The toys were collected during this year's drive, which wrapped up in December.

Even though the holiday season has come and gone organizers say they want to bring joy year-round.

“We have over 75 to 80 programs that we work with here in Rochester, so what we want to do with all these toys is to use them all yearlong to help kids in need,” said Gary The Happy Pirate.

Gary tells News10NBC the fund collected more than 18,000 toys this year, including 2,500 that were brought to Superstorm Sandy victims.
