On Sunday dozens of people came out to show their support for the family of Blake Cognata, who passed away Saturday morning from a rare cancer.

It's been a very emotional week for the Fairport community.

Blake Cognata passed away after battling a rare cancer called Ewing's sarcoma for almost a year.

On Sunday people came out to F.I.T. Gym, located at 465 West Commercial Street in East Rochester, to take part in a fitness fundraiser in honor of Blake called "Find Your Strong Bootcamp."

The event included three hour-long conditioning sessions where participants did everything from aerobics to boxing.
Organizers tell News10NBC they just want to do what they can to help out the family.

“Everybody is coming out, working hard. You can hear them grunting over there. They're sticking through it and they're doing great. They've been coming in off the street and giving us donations and we're very happy,” said Nikki Bittner, one of the organizers of the fundraiser.

Organizers were able to raise about $2,500 from Sunday's boot camp. They will also be collecting donations throughout the week.
