Funeral services have been arranged for the Fairport High School student who died after a battle with rare form of cancer called Ewing's Sarcoma.
A memorial mass will be held for Blake Cognata on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at St. John of Rochester Church. The service will be broadcasted simultaneously at the Fairport High School Auditorium and Gymnasium for Fairport High School students and their families only. There will be no prior calling hours.
Cognata would have turned 18-years- old Monday. He passed away Saturday morning at Strong Hospital. The lacrosse and football player captured the heart of the community with his strength and courage throughout his battle. Last week, Blake received a phone call from Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson. The phone call was made thanks to tweets Blake's friends made to the football player.
A Memorial Scholarship Fund at Fairport High School will be established in Blake's name coming in the near future.
