Guns, gangs, drugs and violence were all up for discussion at a unique public forum in Rochester Tuesday.

Rochester's mayor and police chief heard from residents in the second "Voice of the Citizen" meeting.

Police officers were there to answer questions and record suggestions. News10NBC asked Rochester Police Chief James Sheppard and Rochester Mayor Tom Richards if they think the gun law passed Tuesday will help curb violence.

Rochester Police Chief James Sheppard said, "A lot of our weapons are a result of people stealing them, taking them from other homes, burglaries or whatever or they're traded into city, the city for drugs. So if there's better control on those weapons they will not show up on our streets and they will not be causing that we know wreaks havoc on a daily basis."

There are two more "Voice of the Citizen: Solution to Violence" forums planned in the city. For more information, click here.
